Measuring Equipment for Smartphone Maintenance

Measuring equipment is essential tool to repair smartphones. The are plenty of faults we can't estimate from phone surface, therefore, some measuring tools are needed to acquire information by testing possible faulty parts, and from that we can judge good or bad parts we need to repair.

For cell phone maintenance, the most common tools are mainly including: Multimeter, Oscilloscope,etc.


1. Multimeter




It's the important tool for testing smartphones. It is designed to test different parts and components, measuring voltage, current, battery, resistance. Common multimeter includes indicating needle multimeter and digital multimeter.

Generally, when measuring voltage, current, resistance and other parameters on electronic products, you need setting up the shift and range to multimeter, then make actual measurement.  The red pen is connected with posive socket while the red pen is for negative socket.

Tip: for cell phone PCB, the components mostly adopt SMD or surface mounting installation. When use multemeter to test, you need to connect "test extension pin" to allow measurement on the components.



2. Oscilloscope




















It is very convenient, fast and precision for Oscilloscope to measure the electronic signal of all crucial test points, and the display will show the waveform of electronic signals. By analyzing the waveform you can judge the faults on smartphones. Common oscilloscope includes analog oscilloscope and digital oscilloscope.

Oscilloscope brings more convenience to smartphones. It can shows voltage wareform and current wareform on circuit board very clearly, which improves efficience and saves time a lot for repair technician. Although the sales price is a bit high, but it's still popular.

Tip: On cell phone PCB,  there are many thin IC pins, but measuring pen detector is comparatively thick, therefore, it's very difficult to get a location for pins. To solve the problem, you can connect and fasten thin pin on the detector.

iPhone 6 Display Failure after Replacing LCD

The iPhone 6 display is black after replacing LCD. After checking, the diode data of display socket is normal and all power supply for iPhone display IC  output is normal. Iphone 6S Enters DFU Mode Cannot Start Fault Repair
